Avalanche Skills Training - Level 2

For Skiers and Snowboarders

This 4-day course is a comprehensive, advanced skills avalanche course for non-professionals: a natural progression from the Avalanche Skills Training Level 1.

The technical course involves 2 evening sessions and 4 field days and focuses on advanced skills in:

  • decision making
  • terrain evaluation
  • route finding
  • snow profile interpretation
  • rescue techniques

If you are serious about the backcountry this course is for you!

Participants must have previous avalanche course experience, ski or snowboard touring experience and must be at least an intermediate skier or snowboarder.

December 19 - 22, 2009 (Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues)
January 9 - 10 & 16 - 17, 2010 (2 consecutive weekends)
February 5 - 8, 2010 (Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon)
March 6 - 7 & 13 - 14, 2010 (2 consecutive weekends)
April 2 - 5, 2010 (Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon)
April 17 - 18 & 24 - 25, 2010 (2 consecutive weekends)

$575.00

All prices are subject to 5% GST. Prices are per person unless otherwise stated

In an effort to keep course prices low, participants are responsible to provide their own avalanche safety equipment and lift access. Rentals are available at a discounted rate to registered participants.

Backcountry adjacent to Whistler and Blackcomb ski areas
Maximum 6:1 student to instructor

Avalanche Skills Training (AST) Level I AND Backcountry Ski Touring experience

Participants must pick up their rental equipment before the course begins. Participants are to provide their own food and water for the course days.
