Mt Matier Mountaineering Trip (2770m)

Mt Matier is an attractive and popular mountain offering mostly moderate routes of good variety.

The normal routes are on the northeast face which involve a glacial approach and descent. About three hours of climbing on mostly 45 degree snow and ice (late season) ascends to the rocky summit where the panoramic views of Joffre, Slalock, Vantage, and beyond are stunning.

Itinerary

Day 1 is the approach from the car to the toe of the glacier where we will overnight to get an early start the next day.

Day 2 ascends the glacier to the base of the climb, a summit attempt, and a reverse of the route back to the car.
